Welcome
Beginners to intermediate in electric and acoustic styles, plus bass guitar, taught on a one to one basis at a pace to suit the student.
All ages welcome and advice can be given with regard to suitability of instruments, for example the size of a guitar for a very young beginner. PLEASE, PLEASE don't waste your money on cheap unplayable department store guitars (No names mentioned. No law suits pending). For not much more cost, I can help you find something far more suitable to your needs or those of your child in the learning process..... and no, I'm not on any commision.
Depending on the requirements of the student, teaching can be geared toward simple self-accompaniment or a progressive study of a set syllabus leading to an internationally recognized grade qualification. For the past six years, Ron Gletherow has been the regional representative (New England and surrounding area) for the Registry of Guitar Tutors (www.rgt.org), affiliated to the London College of Music & Thames Valley University, the largest university in Europe.
RGT has conducted four successful exam schedules here since May 2008, with exams being held in both S.E Connecticut and New York. These schedules are to be repeated annually, the next one being in May/June 2012, providing worldwide recognized qualifications, and the only pre-college qualification in electric guitar available at present in the USA.
Learning the guitar is fun and rewarding, but you get there much faster with a guide who shares your enthusiasm. Let me help to introduce you to one of the most versatile and popular instruments on the planet. You never know........you just may enjoy it!
