About Ron Gletherow

Ron Gletherow HeadshotI have been performing, writing and recording music on guitar, piano and vocals for many years now, both in England, and more recently in the United States. I started off, as many youngsters do, playing in a band at school, then progressing to performing both solo and as part of various bands on the London pub and club circuit. The highlight for me at this time, and my one claim to fame, was getting to appear on the British national TV show, "Stars In Their Eyes" in 1998, as my hero, Jim Croce.

In 2001, I married my American wife, Margaret, and moved to set up home with her in S.E Connecticut. I was a lifelong fan of the late Jim Croce, which was part of the reason for me being here, as Margaret and I met at a Jim Croce fan based gathering in Philadelphia in 1998. Since arriving here, I've continued writing and recording, and have two CD's available at my sister site, www.rongletherow.com, plus another as part of the band, "Maggie's Guitar" (www.maggiesguitar.com). It has also been my pleasure, during that time to become acquainted with several friends and family members of Jim Croce, along with other artists of note, none least of which being the world famous songwriter, Paul Williams.

About 20 years ago, I thought it was high time I got myself some formal training in the instrument I'd been playing for most of my adult life. It was then that I first made contact with the RGT (Registry of Guitar Tutors). To my amazement, I really didn't know it all (as I'd first thought) about guitar playing, and there was a wealth of knowledge to be gained through this organization. The RGT took me back to basics, going through the fundamentals of all that has to do with the guitar as an instrument. In due course, I studied for my grade exams, and in September of 2006, I was accepted as an RGT guitar tutor.

The Registry of Guitar Tutors is a worldwide organisation, organised in partnership with the London College of Music, one of the world's most respected music examination boards, established in 1887. It's many patron members include Sir Paul McCartney, David Gilmour and Ronnie Wood. Exam schedules are held annually in New England, and are sure to spread to various areas of the USA in the near future.

The RGT has done so much for helping me to become a better guitarist. I'm sure it can do the same for you.
